FAQ's

How is data privacy maintained?
Any data that's transferred to our secure servers is first encrypted with a unique user-defined encryption key. Only by acquiring that same encryption key from the backup user, can the user's backup data be restored successfully. All of our connections are Point to Point Dedicated Circuits. Your data does not physically enter the Internet and is therefore impervious to corruption or attack whilst being transmitted.

How quickly can I transfer files via NetBax?
This very much depends on the particular connection you have chosen to use on your premises. As a rough guide, a user who has a 512Kbit Virtual Kilostream installed (which provides 256Kbit upload speeds) can, in ideal conditions, transfer data at the rate of 1.8Mb per minute.

Can the service backup UNIX or Mac files?
Providing our client software is running on a computer with a standard Windows network share (which can be provided by either Windows or via third-party software), the NetBax client can backup any file on any networked drive.

How long must I wait before I have access to my data if I need to restore it?
You are provided with instant access to your entire archive as soon as the data has been received on NetBax 's servers. If you are restoring to a new computer you just need to install our client software and select the 'Restore Data' option.

I don't leave my PC on 24 hours a day. Can I still use NetBax?
Yes, you can. Our client software allows you to run a manual backup of any Backup Set you have created at any time of the day or night. This would be how you secured your company's files before turning off your equipment at the end of your working day, for example.

How much will it cost me if I need to retrieve my data?
Nothing. We allow unlimited retrievals of your data, irrespective of the time of day or week.

I have exceeded my available storage space.  Can I still use my service?
If your archive exceeds the specified amount, you can choose to either increase your storage quota by subscribing to a higher plan, or you can simply delete old files from the server via our client software.

Can computer viruses attack your servers and corrupt our data?
The only files that are stored on our backup servers are your encrypted and compressed files. The very actions involved in this process render ALL viruses harmless to both our servers and your own data. Every PC (either workstations or servers) within the NetBax organisation is fully protected by regular updates being applied to our own Anti-Virus software as soon as the updates are released.

We would, of course, suggest that you also help to minimise the risk of infecting other computer systems by maintaining your own fully up-to-date Virus protection at your site.
